| Title | Call for Papers: 2014 SLA Graduate Student Symposium at the University of Wisconsin |
| Body | From http://2014slasymposium.lss.wisc.edu The SLA graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Iowa have formed a partnership to host an annual SLA Graduate Student Symposium. Organizing and hosting the conference alternates between the universities. Graduate students in SLA and related disciplines present their work and meet distinguished researchers in their field. The theme of the 2014 symposium is Crossing Borders: Engaging and Connecting and will take place in Madison, Wisconsin on April 11th and 12th, 2014. The organizing committee is honored to welcome Lourdes Ortega from Georgetown University and Judith Liskin-Gasparro from the University of Iowa as this year's plenary speakers. The organizers seek proposals from graduate students whose research both reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the field of SLA and draws on connections and engagements among the disciplines and perspectives. Studies from a variety of areas will be accepted. These areas include but are not limited to: Classroom research Second and foreign language pedagogy Psycholinguistic approaches to SLA Generative second language acquisition Heritage language acquisition Language and culture Socialization Sociolinguistics World Englishes Pragmatics Learner corpora and SLA Testing and assessment Analysis of discourse and interaction Computer-assisted language learning Proposals are due February 1, 2014.
