Body | The Consular Office of Japan in Portland and The Association of Teachers of Japanese in Oregon Invite you attend a Lecture and Seminar with Mr. Yo Azama, American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages’ 2012 National Language Teacher of the Year. Saturday, December 14th, 2013 – 9:15 am Downtown Portland, World Trade Center More than ever, our world needs a deeper understanding of each other. We must ask ourselves, “What are our roles as language educators in the 21st century?” The keynote will address this important question through personal stories and recent research discoveries. Admission is free. To attend please RSVP to matthew.turner at se dot mofa dot go dot jp. Yo Azama is a graduate of California State University in Monterey Bay, CA. He also has a multiple subject teaching credential from the New College of California and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Showa Academia Musicae in Kanagawa, Japan. Since 2000, Yo has taught Japanese at all levels at North Salinas High School. He has published widely in the field of language education and culture. In 2012, Yo was named National Language Teacher of the year by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language and in 2011 he was named Outstanding World Language Teacher of the Year by the International Language and Cultural Foundation. |
