Body | From http://primarysource.org/the-caribbean-central-america-and-the-u-s The Caribbean, Central America and the U.S.: Connections Past and Present Three-Day Seminar Series Course Dates: Mar. 14, Apr. 4, May 2, 2014 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Half of the twelve top countries of origin for Massachusetts's immigrant families today are from the region of the Americas known as the Caribbean Basin. This interdisciplinary course explores the region and its long, complex, and sometimes troubled relationship to the U.S. While gaining deeper understanding of Caribbean Basin history, culture, and politics, participants will develop tools and knowledge to support culturally responsive teaching. The historical experience and cultural contributions of Dominican, Haitian, and Mexican migrants will receive special attention. Open to all K-12 educators.
