| Title | Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning Launches New Blog: Open Up |
| Body | From https://blog.coerll.utexas.edu/about The Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL) has just launched Open Up, a new blog. Here’s more about COERLL and its new blog: Language teachers and students at COERLL have a common goal: to help create a culture of collaboration and sharing in order to improve the teaching and learning of foreign languages. This is the foundation of the Open Education movement in language learning. In 2008, COERLL became one of the 15 National Foreign Language Resource Centers funded by the US Department of Education. The center’s specific mission is to produce and disseminate Open Educational Resources (OER) for the Internet public. OER are “teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits sharing, accessing, repurposing—including for commercial purposes—and collaborating with others.” (Free to Learn) This blog allows COERLL to speak directly with language teachers and learners interested in OER. They will bring you news, opinions, and teaching and learning resources, as well as the expertise of leaders in Open Education. You can expect a post twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday.
