TitleMaterials: Crossroads Cafe for ESL classes
Body
For more information about Crossroads Cafe, see:

One of the best materials I've seen for multi-level ESL classes is Crossroads
Cafe. This is a 20 episode video series that came out in the mid to late 90s
about a cafe and its regulars and employees, created for the ESL immigrant
market. It is very well made - pretty much TV production quality, has humor,
serious issues, and deals with common daily life problems of immigrants,
single mothers, engaged couples, friends, 1st generation Americans and
others. The books are formatted for multiple levels. Each exercise is starred,
1 star is easy, 2 stars are harder, etc. The whole class can watch the video
and each level will get something different out of it. Everyone can work from
the same book, on the same theme, on different levels. The program is for
high-beginners to high intermediate. It really united my multi-level class and
made whole class projects much easier to think up.
