Title | Call for Proposals: Technology for Second Language Learning Conference |
Body | From http://linguistlist.org/issues/23/23-1218.html 10th Annual Conference on Technology for Second Language Learning (TSLL) September 21-22, 2012 Ames, Iowa The 2012 TSLL Conference will provide a forum for discussion of research investigating how natural language processing-based systems can be evaluated to inform their use in the teaching, learning and assessment of writing. The following topics are of particular interest: Research investigating the effectiveness of NLP-based analysis of learners’ written language as part of classroom instruction. The study of individual writers’ use of NLP-based analysis of learners’ written language in and out of class. Research on the role of teachers’ knowledge and beliefs about NLP-based systems in their use of such systems. Research on the impact of different contexts, institutional and educational policies, pedagogical practices, learner needs/styles/strategies, user literacies, etc. on the effectiveness of NLP-based systems. Cross-disciplinary perspectives on critical research issues in the development and use NLP-based systems for writing instruction and assessment. Issues concerning the design of research on learners’ use of NLP-based systems for improving writing. In order to be considered, proposals must be received via email by Friday, April 27, 2012.
