Title | Ohio Credit Flexibility Guidance for World Languages |
Body | From http://education.ohio.gov/GD/Templates/Pages/ODE/ODEDetail.aspx?page=3&TopicRelationID=1864&ContentID=82751&Content=98133 Senate Bill 311 (the Ohio Core legislation) raised the graduation requirements for high school students in the hope that more students would be ready to meet the demands of our global and technological age. It included among its several provisions a requirement that by March 31, 2009, the State Board of Education adopt a plan that enables “students to earn units of high school credit based on a demonstration of subject area competency, instead of or in combination with completing hours of classroom instruction.” In September, 2010, districts were to have in place a plan to award credit by proficiency.
