The Department of Modern & Classical Languages at Georgia State University anticipates hiring a fulltime tenure track assistant professor in Foreign Language Education for the fall semester of 2011, pending budgetary approval. Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in Foreign Language Education or related field, a strong foundation in foreign language teaching methodology, fluency in English and at least advanced-level proficiency in a second language (French or Spanish preferred), have P-12 teaching experience and/or supervising experience in schools, with a strong understanding of integrating technology into second language classroom, have experience in proficiency-based instruction and assessment, and have a strong interest in promoting scholarship. The position entails teaching classes in second language acquisition, methods of teaching foreign languages and culture, advising students, and supervising students in field experiences while maintaining a strong commitment to research and scholarship.
