| Title | German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award |
| Body | German Embassy Teacher of Excellence Award This award, first granted in 2008, consists of attending the AATG / ACTFL Annual Meeting in Boston from November 19-21, 2010 (registration, travel and lodging), and attending a Goethe-Institut professional development course in Germany in summer 2011 (course fees, airfare, and room and board). This year, three awards will be granted. The German Embassy would like candidates who are up-and-coming teachers, who perhaps have not had other awards and accolades or have received only local recognition, but for example, have saved a program, are considered terrific teachers, and contribute to the local chapter. Each chapter may nominate one candidate for this award. Nominations may also be submitted by FachberaterInnen, Goethe-Institut colleagues, and German consulates in the USA. The candidate may come from any level of instruction. Please do not nominate someone who has been nominated for a separate AATG award this year (the Outstanding German Educator, Friend of German, or the Certificate of Merit award). Candidates must be AATG members. The award recipient must attend the AATG Annual Meeting (in conjunction with ACTFL) to receive the award in person. To nominate a candidate, submit one packet with: · the award nomination form · a cover letter with a detailed and complete summary of reasons the nominee should receive the award · the candidate's resume (not more than 5 pages) · five to eight letters from others (colleagues, administrators, other AATG members, students) who can attest to these attributes · Portfolios in excess of twenty (20) pages will not be considered; please do not staple.
