The Highland-based San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has made a $6 million donation to launch what promises to be the nation's first 24-hour American Indian television channel.

The channel will be on KVCR-TV, which broadcasts to hundreds of thousands of viewers across the desert and L.A. markets.

Station president Larry Ciecalone said he is pumped about the one-of-a-kind channel that will tell the stories of American Indians and Alaskan natives. Expect it to air in the spring of 2011.
