BodyThe California Foreign Language Project recently published a report entitled "Learning World Languages and Cultures in California: A Stimulus for Academic and Economic Success."

Through charts, tables, and other visuals, the report clearly illustrates that the learning of world languages and cultures is critical in order for the State to market its goods and services abroad and increase the quality of life for its diverse citizenry at home. The report makes recommendations to policy makers for a greater investment in areas such as research and development, elementary programs, professional development, and technology. It also provides the profession with a vision of why schools and districts need to offer a wide range of world language and culture courses.
