TECHNOLOGY AND TEACHING SPANISH

Dates: June 19 – July 3, 2010
Location: Salamanca, Spain

In this two-week seminar, participants will learn how to use technology in service of teaching Spanish as a foreign language (E/LE). The class will examine the major research findings from the field of second language acquisition field as well as learn how to apply this knowledge in practical terms to the teaching of the Spanish language with special assistance from technology. In addition to reviewing the most troublesome points of Spanish grammar, participants will practice how to organize their classrooms in dynamic ways via the inclusion of technologically based activities. Particular attention will be paid to distance learning, computer mediated, communication, and task-based learning. Selected topics will be accompanied by a review of pertinent topics from Spanish grammar (ser/estar; imperfect/preterite; object pronouns; subordinate clauses, mood selection; pragmatic circumlocutions).
