The District of Columbia Public Schools is seeking outstanding educators to join our team of Master Educators for the 2010-2011 school year.

D.C. Public Schools launched a new teacher performance management system in the fall of 2009 as part of its effort to become one of the highest performing school systems in the country. One of the key elements of this new system (called IMPACT) is the Master Educator role. Master Educators have two primary responsibilities: 1) to serve as impartial, third-party evaluators of teacher performance; and 2) to provide teachers with targeted, content-specific support.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
· Evaluate educator proficiency in the DCPS Teaching and Learning Framework through classroom observations and conferences.
· Provide support to educators by modeling lessons, coaching teachers, conducting informal observations, leading professional development seminars, and helping connect educators with PD resources.

Required Past Experience:
· A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in a low-income school.
· A track record of success increasing student achievement in a low-income school.

Salary:
· $90,000 plus benefits – full-time position with one month off in the summer.
