AFRICA BIBLIOGRAPHY 2008
Works on Africa published during 2008
Edited by T. A. Barringer

ISSN 0266-6731
e-ISSN 1757-1642

A new volume of the large and authoritative guide to works in African studies, published under the auspices of the International African Institute annually since 1984, is available.

Africa Bibliography includes a wide range of materials: monographs, chapters in edited volumes, journal articles, and pamphlets. It covers all regions of Africa, including North Africa and the continent's associated islands. It lists works published in English as well as a number of other languages. The bibliography categorizes by region, country and subject.

The opening article in this year's volume considers the role of bibliographies in increasing structured access to the plethora of scholarly information to, within and from Africa in the current information era, which has exacerbated the gap between developed and developing countries' access to information for research and education.

In an attempt to provide at least a partial answer to this question, Susan Murray provides a case study of African Journals OnLine (AJOL).

The article is available as a 'featured article', freely downloadable at http://www.euppublishing.com/doi/abs/10.3366/abib.2008.2 .
