You could be a Chinese Language and Culture Instructor in the U.S. Department of State, at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, VA.

In your position as Language and Culture Instructor you will:

Teach speaking, reading, listening comprehension and writing (if required) skills to a full range of students at all levels of language proficiency

Your responsibilities may include:

· Serving as a classroom instructor in teaching speaking, listening comprehension, reading, and writing to a full range of students.
· Developing and presenting special materials for students with specialized needs.
· Developing or revising courses and instructional materials.
· Assisting in evaluating student progress and course effectiveness.
· Providing language training and cross-cultural awareness to prepare Department of State employees and other foreign affairs professionals for their specific assignments.

The Foreign Service Institute is the Federal Government's primary training institution for officers and support personnel of the U.S. foreign affairs community, preparing American diplomats and other professionals to advance U.S. foreign affairs interests overseas and in Washington.

Requirements: Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese. You do not need to be a US citizen, but you must have authority to work in the US – we cannot sponsor applicants for visas.

Salary: $51,630 to $81,204 (starting salaries vary and may be based in part on superior academic achievement and/or previous work experience). This position is a 2 year appointment, renewable indefinitely.
