TitleCall for Papers: International Conference on Researching and Teaching Vietnamese

The International Association of Teaching Vietnamese, in conjunction with the Department of Vietnamese Studies of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities within Vietnam National University, HCM City, will hold the first International Conference on Researching and Teaching Vietnamese (1st ICR&TV) on January 6-7, 2011, at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities within Vietnam National University, HCM City.

The conference aims at providing an opportunity for researchers and teachers of Vietnamese to present their research results and share their experiences in teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language, to network and exchange their works with other scholars in the field as well as with other IATV members. Another aim of the conference is to encourage discussion among professionals with the view to promote collaboration in researching and teaching of Vietnamese as a foreign language across Vietnamese teaching and researching institutions worldwide.

The conference will focus on the following themes:

1. Teaching of Vietnamese as a foreign language: The conference welcomes articles on teaching methodology, experiences, and other issues in teaching Vietnamese as a foreign language

2. Vietnamese syntactic structures: The conference welcomes articles on Vietnamese phonology, vocabulary, semantics, grammar, etc.

3. Contrastive studies of Vietnamese and other languages: The conference welcomes articles on contrastive studies of Vietnamese and other languages on all linguistic aspects such as morphology, phonology, vocabulary, semantics, grammars, etc.

4. The conference also welcomes articles on preserving the purity and clarity of Vietnamese, on spreading and maintaining Vietnamese among Vietnamese communities overseas, on spreading Vietnamese among minority ethnic communities in Vietnam, on geographical names, dialects, history of Vietnamese, etc.

Official languages used in the conference are Vietnamese and English.

Registration and submission of abstracts will be open from March 15 to September 15, 2010. The deadline for submission of the whole articles is November 1, 2010. Please submit abstracts and full-length articles (to be typed using UNICODE, Times New Roman 14 font, and single spaced) via email to icrtv1@iatvnetwork.org or vanphonghoi@iatvnetwork.org
