Next summer CALPER will be offering ten workshops for language educators at University Park campus, Pennsylvania State University. Each workshop will meet for 9 hours over three mornings or three afternoons. ACT 48 clock hours are available for Pennsylvania teachers. Registration opens February 1, 2010.

The ten workshops are as follows:

BLOCK 1: Monday-Wednesday mornings 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m., July 12, 13, 14
-Language Focused Tasks for Communicative and Content-based Classrooms: A Workshop on their Development and Implementation
-Making the Most of a Corpus
-Meeting the Challenges of Teaching Heritage and Domestic Language Learners

BLOCK 2: Monday-Wednesday afternoons 1:30p.m.-4:30p.m., July 12, 13, 14
-Developing Content-based Thematic Units to Enhance Curricula
-Tracking Development with Learner Corpora

BLOCK 3: Thursday-Saturday mornings 9:00a.m.-12:00p.m., July 15, 16, 17
-Language and Culture
-Assessment for Learning in the L2 Classroom
-Grammar Meaning a Grammar of Meanings: Teaching Concepts in the FL Classroom

BLOCK 4: Thursday-Saturday afternoons 1:30p.m.-4:30p.m., July 15, 16, 17
-Discourse Analysis and L2 Teaching
-Using E-Portfolios in Language Teaching
