But girls and buddies were his major interests, even though he was taking language classes and spoke a little starting at age 11. "I didn't really get serious about it until I was a young adult," White said. Then, before he died five years ago, George (Little Turtle) Munyan, who served as language teacher and a spiritual leader for the tribe, asked White to consider carrying on his teaching.
