Dear Colleague,

I would like to invite you to :

The 18th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Language Teachers
Association of New England (JLTA of NEW ENGLAND)
Wellesley College, Massachusetts, June 12, & 13, 2004

The Conference this year is being hosted by Wellesley College
in Massachusetts. Wellesley College is a beautiful college
located in the suburbs of Boston-30 minutes by bus or train
from downtown Boston.

The topic of this year's conference is "Dynamic approaches to
teaching Japanese " and we are fortunate to have as our special
guest speaker MITSUKO HASE from Japan, a well known
Performing Artist of Japanese Language. She will be
performing on the first night and will give a seminar on the
second day.

Participants are welcome to submit presentation proposals.
Presenters will be expected to discuss ways to improve the
teaching of Japanese at both the pre-college and the college
levels. Pre-college teachers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Papers may be presented either in Japanese or English, and
each presentation should be 20 minutes long with an additional
5 minutes for discussion. An abstract to be submitted with the
proposal should be no more than one page in English or Japanese.

The deadline for the proposal is March 12, 2004. Abstracts may
be submitted either by e-mail (kozawa@wellesley.edu) or by
regular mail to Professor Carol Morley, Japanese Department,
Wellesley College, 106 Central Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.

The conference will start at 12:30 Saturday June 12, 2004 and
end at around 3:00 Sunday June 13, 2004.
We do hope you will be able to join us.

Yours Sincerely,
