Body | Here are two resources dealing with the Berlin Wall: --- The film "Freedom Without Walls" portrays creative young people living and working in Berlin today as they explain how the fall of the wall has shaped their lives and the city they live in. Educators and community organizations may request a free copy of the full 18-minute film for use in the classroom or at events intended to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany by filling out a form at http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/usa/en/__PR/GIC/2009/09/22__FWW__DVD__PM.html --- The Goethe Institut in Boston has a virtual wall exhibition on site, open Friday, October 2 – Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The virtual reality artwork “Virtuelle Mauer/ReConstructing the Wall” investigates the impact of the Berlin Wall, which divided West and East Berlin during the Cold War from August 13, 1961 to November 9, 1989. A digital reconstruction of a segment of the dismantled Berlin Wall and its surrounding neighborhoods creates a place of rememberance that users can explore in order to to experience and reflect on this historical time. You, as the user of the 3D installation, navigating through the virtual world with a simple joystick, trigger these time travels through your own movements and choices, weaving your own particular web of everyday stories and historical events from the time of the Wall.
